At 6pm on Wednesday, 16 January 2013 season ticket deposits for Indy Pro Soccer began to be accepted online. Just hours after it had been announced that Indy Pro Soccer would enter the North American Soccer League (NASL) in the 2014 season, fans poured in their support by placing hundreds of deposits to secure their seat priority for games planned to be played at Carroll Stadium in downtown Indianapolis. Less than three days after tickets were placed on sale, more than one thousand $25 deposits had been placed. At the time of writing, the number now stands at 1,250.
“The initial response exceeds the phenomenal response we had 15 years ago when Chicago Fire season tickets went on sale,” says Indy Pro Soccer President Peter Wilt. “This is an indication that there is a real demand for professional soccer in Central Indiana. We hope the deposits will continue to grow as more people in the area become aware of the excitement that’s coming to Indianapolis next year.”
Indiana’s support for Indy Pro Soccer is also shown by the current results in a poll run by Inside INdiana Business asking “Will Indianapolis support a professional soccer team?” More than 90% of respondents have answered affirmatively. Fans can vote in the poll here.
